Women’s Vitality Retreat Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive at the village of Camden, Maine on the shore of Penobscot Bay, where “the mountains meet the sea.” Check in at our very comfortable home-away-from-home, a beautiful New England-style historic inn near Camden Harbor. After checking in begin your long-weekend with a private welcome yoga class to de-stress after your journey. Relax this evening and enjoy a healthy, delicious welcome dinner and an opportunity to get acquainted with other retreat participants. (Welcome refreshments, D)

Day 2:
Begin the day with a morning yoga class before breakfast or enjoy an early morning walk or simply get caught up on sleep. Late morning workshop with Holly, walking the spiral of your own unique Food Fingerprintâ„¢. “When you know the path to take to discover what food-style really works for you, confusion is replaced by feeling empowered and vitally energetic. Finding your Food Fingerprintâ„¢ allows you reverse premature aging, stay off medications and increase your energy.”

In the afternoon put on your apron and learn to prepare nutritious meals in a hands-on cooking class using fresh ingredients and wholefoods with Holly and cooking teacher Susan Hamill. The class culminates with a shared lunch of the foods prepared together. Late afternoon outdoor activity and/or evening movement/dance class before dinner at the inn. (B, L, D)

Day 3:
Wake up with a gentle morning yoga session or a rigorous fitness/yoga/dance class followed by breakfast. This afternoon venture out on an optional kayaking excursion to Curtis Island Lighthouse led by our local guide (suitable for all levels), or enjoy a hike or explore the quaint town of Camden. After a chance to freshen up, join Holly for a cooking class and learn the preparation of healthy meals and healthy DESSERTS for busy life-styles. Followed by a delicious family-style dinner. (B, D)

Day 4:
Get energized with a sunrise hike at Camden Hills to outlooks with panoramic views of Penobscot Bay and/or yoga options, followed by breakfast. Visit Avena Botanicals of Rockport, Maine and learn about Tinctures and Teas for promoting women’s health in a workshop with Herbalist Deb Soule. Return to Camden. Lunch in town. Afternoon outdoor activity. This evening enjoy a special farewell dinner at one of the area’s best restaurants. Before dinner, tour the restaurant’s organic gardens. (B, L, D)

Day 5:
Our retreat closes with a morning yoga class and/or outdoor activity, followed by breakfast and farewells to new friends. (B)

Each day includes time for Optional Wellness Treatments such as massage, reiki, reflexology, acupuncture, nutrition consultation, colonhydrotherapy, which can be scheduled for an additional fee.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Expect to eat well, get out and be active, try new things, make new friends, laugh a lot and come home revitalized and glad you came.

You are invited to partake in all included activities, or to relax and take time to rest and reflect enjoying the beauty of Camden. Each day offers opportunities to take yoga classes (some are private for just our group and others are on going classes) at High Mountain Hall, which is just across the road from our Inn. Everyday time is devoted to getting out and enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking in the Camden Hills, walking and/or biking along scenic lanes, and kayaking in Camden Harbor. All rental fees for equipment and safety gear such as helmets and life vests are included.

NOTE: This is an active trip and requires a certain degree of physical fitness. The activity options can be modified for all levels form novice to advanced. This retreat provides a supportive and fun environment to try new activities and to challenge yourself. To fully take advantage of this retreat weekend, participants should be able to comfortably walk at least 3-4 miles at a good pace. The inn we have selected to host our Maine Wellness Retreat, The Hawthorne Inn, is a elegant Queen Anne-style Victorian mansion situated on 1.2 acres of lawn and gardens just north of the beautiful sailing village of Camden, Maine and steps from the Harbor. The Inn has 10 spacious and beautifully appointed guest suites and rooms; six rooms in the Main House and four in the Carriage House. All rooms have private baths (with comfy bathrobes); four in the Carriage House have Jacuzzi tubs, and three in the Main House have claw-foot Victorian tubs. The Inn has a beautiful large sunny kitchen for cooking classes and a lovely dining area for meals and a cozy parlor for gathering in.

EARLY BOOKING RETREAT PRICE: $1499 for a private room en suite

Since lodging is at smaller local inn, the rooms vary slightly, but are all very comfortable.

The Retreat Package Price is based on single occupancy (a private room) the Main House of the inn, for reservations received by January 31, 2015. After this date add $100 per person.

Superior Room: Add $300.00 with a shower & Jacuzzi tub and a patio or deck at the rear of the inn

RESERVATIONS

To reserve your space call or email Eurynome Journeys to obtain a Retreat Enrollment Form, copy of the Terms and Conditions and Release Form. Once your completed forms are received along with a deposit check for $500.00 per person your space will be confirmed.

WEATHER in Mid-coast Maine during summer months is warm, but usually not hot, especially by the sea. It is perfect for keeping active- hiking, biking and doing other outdoor activities.The days are getting longer with about 16 hours of daylight. Days can be warm and sunny, as well as cool with rain. Day time temperatures average in the mid-seventies, evening temperature can dip into the mid-fifties.

GETTING TO MAINE

By airplane Mid-coast Maine is only an hour-flight from Logan International Airport (BOS) in Boston, Massachusetts. Cape Air has service several times daily to Rockland, Maine (RKD), which is just a 20-minute cab ride to Camden. Flying over beautiful Penobscot Bay is amazing! Contact us for details and commuter rates.

Other airports with convenient transportation to Camden, Maine include Portland Jetport (PWM) in Portland; Maine and Bangor Airport (BGR) in Bangor, Maine.

Concord Coach Lines provides convenient service from Logan International Airport; the train station in Portland, Maine; and Bangor, Maine International Airport to Camden. See Concord Coach Lines’ schedule.

By car Camden is a 4-hour drive from Boston, 2 hours from Portland, and 1.5 hours from Bangor.
